Extended-Hour and Private-Duty Nursing

Some patients need nursing for many hours a day: overnight monitoring, full-day coverage, or continuous care for a medically fragile family member. Liberty Advanced Nursing provides extended-hour and private-duty nursing in Maryland for patients whose clinical needs require sustained skilled coverage. The right structure depends on the patient's condition, orders, payer, and available staffing, and an RN determines that during clinical review. Extended-hour coverage is one of several care structures Liberty provides, not its only service.

What This Care Looks Like

  • Daytime extended shifts and overnight coverage
  • Continuous and 24-hour care structures where appropriate
  • RN supervision of every assignment
  • Consistent, qualified nurses where schedules allow
  • Monitoring and response for changes in condition
EXTENDED-HOUR AND PRIVATE-DUTY NURSING
01

Sustained skilled coverage

Nurses stay for full shifts, document throughout, and hand off clearly at change of shift, so a ventilator patient, a child with a seizure disorder, or an older adult with complex medication needs is never left without skilled eyes.

02

Overnight structure

Overnight nurses monitor breathing, comfort, and vital signs while the family rests, and respond according to the plan of care and escalation protocols.

03

Continuous care

When a patient's condition requires nursing around the clock and coverage is authorized, Liberty coordinates teams that cover each 24-hour period with qualified staff.

Who This Fits

Extended-hour nursing fits families facing hospital discharge with heavy clinical needs, caregivers who cannot safely manage overnight care, and patients whose condition can change quickly and needs a skilled response at any hour.

Services are provided when authorized, clinically appropriate, within Liberty's licensure and payer approval, and when qualified staffing is available. This page is educational and is not medical advice.
