Feeding-Tube and Enteral Care

Enteral feeding at home works only when someone skilled operates the pump, protects the tube, and watches how the patient tolerates the formula. Liberty Advanced Nursing provides feeding-tube and enteral care in Maryland, delivered by nurses trained in tube maintenance, medication administration through the tube, and the monitoring that prevents aspiration and other complications. Care follows the physician's orders and plan of care, and each referral is reviewed for clinical appropriateness and staffing.

FEEDING-TUBE AND ENTERAL CARE
01

Daily enteral routine

Nurses manage the feeding schedule, flush the tube, verify placement as ordered, and keep the equipment clean and working.

02

Medication through the tube

Crushing, dilution, and administration rules differ by medication. Liberty nurses administer medications per pharmacy and physician guidance and keep the drug list reconciled.

03

Watching for problems

Nurses monitor for tube dislodgement, clogging, skin breakdown at the site, aspiration risk, and poor tolerance, and escalate concerns according to protocol.

Who This Fits

Feeding-tube care fits patients who cannot eat safely by mouth: children with feeding disorders, adults after stroke or neurologic injury, and patients on long-term enteral nutrition.

Services are provided when authorized, clinically appropriate, within Liberty's licensure and payer approval, and when qualified staffing is available. This page is educational and is not medical advice.
